What Are Railcards?
Railcards are discount cards that offer reduced fares on train tickets for a wide range of passengers. Railcards are available for different age groups, including young people, seniors, and disabled passengers, as well as couples and families. Railcards can save you up to 1/3 on rail fares, making them a cost-effective way to travel by train. Railcards are valid for one year and can be used on most train services in the UK, including peak and off-peak fares. If you travel regularly by train, a railcard can save you a significant amount of money on your tickets.

Where Can I Buy a Railcard?
Railcards can be purchased online at most 3rd party ticket sellers, like Trainpal or Trainline, or at any staffed National Rail ticket office. You will need to provide proof of eligibility when purchasing a railcard, such as a passport or driving license. Railcards are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be used on most train services in the UK. You can also purchase a railcard as a digital version on your phone or tablet, making it easy to access your discounts on the go. You can also renew your railcard online or at a ticket office when it expires.
How Do I Use a Railcard?
When booking train tickets, ensure you select that you have a railcard, and specify which type of railcard you have. The discount will be automatically applied to your fare, and you will need to carry your railcard with you when traveling to show to the ticket inspector. If you forget your railcard, you may be required to pay the full fare for your journey, so be sure to keep it with you at all times. Railcards are valid for one or three years from the date of purchase and can be used on most train services in the UK, including peak and off-peak fares.
